Beauty of our memorials and gardens
Mt. Thompson Memorial Gardens abounds with lovely gardens with plenty of trees and flowers to complement its historic art deco West Chapel and tranquil modern East Chapel. Both chapels are wheelchair accessible. Find out more about our chapels by clicking on one of the following links:
Mt. Thompson Memorial Gardens is renowned for its neatly trimmed topiary hedges and lush green lawns. In addition to the sculptures that adorn the crematorium’s façade, visitors to our park take pleasure in the stone statues and fountains scattered amidst the roses.
In line with the tropical Queensland climate, palm trees, ferns and hibiscus flowers contrast with our roses and colourful azaleas. Towering native gum trees stand as a testament to the history and maturity of Mt. Thompson Memorial Gardens and its grounds.
Other garden features include ornamental wooden benches, stone garden edging and gazebos.
The sloping land creates sweeping views of the surrounding leafy suburbs, extending as far as central Brisbane from some positions within the park, such as the glass-walled edifice that houses the gardens’ memorial book.
